Some participating courts apply a seven-year criminal sentence filter. Where that filter applies, older criminal-conviction information may require direct contact with the court rather than an online-only search.
A practical no-result recovery sequence
- Confirm that the filing was actually in Genesee County.

A Genesee County Felony Can Move From 67th District to 7th Circuit
This is one of the most useful explanations for a criminal case that appears to “disappear.” Michigan district courts have felony jurisdiction through the preliminary-examination stage. When a felony is bound over, the prosecution proceeds in circuit court.
If a Genesee County felony no longer appears where you expected in the 67th District Court record, search for the circuit-court case or contact the 7th Judicial Circuit Court Legal Records Division. The reverse rule applies when a bound-over case is later remanded to district court: the circuit record becomes nonpublic and the district record becomes accessible after remand as provided by the rule.
Getting the Actual File, Register of Actions or Certified Copy
An online search result is not automatically the complete court file. A register of actions shows the sequence of case events, while the underlying complaint, motion, order, judgment or other filing is a separate record. A certified copy adds court authentication when an agency or legal process requires it.

A Courtroom Recording Is a Different Request
The 7th Judicial Circuit Court separately regulates digital copies of courtroom proceedings. Its current Court Technology guidance lists a $20 per day charge for a digital copy of a proceeding.
Parties and attorneys of record can purchase recordings subject to the court’s limited-use agreement. A nonparty or attorney who is not counsel of record must file a written motion for access, and the trial judge decides whether access is allowed. The court says to allow up to three business days for preparation of an approved digital recording.
