Data Removal, Privacy and Sensitive-Record Review Policy
How we review privacy concerns, removal requests, screenshot concerns, mistaken context and sensitive public-record issues on our own website.
What this policy covers
This policy covers content published by publiccourtrecords.org/. It does not control records maintained by courts, clerks, government agencies, PACER, state judiciary systems, search engines, archives, paid databases or third-party websites. If an official court record is wrong or sealed, the correction usually must start with the court or record custodian.
What we may review
If a guide includes personal context that is not needed for public education, we may remove or reduce it.
If a screenshot shows old portal information or private data, we can update, replace or remove it.
If wording could imply guilt, liability or legal outcome where it should not, we can rewrite it.
If a page appears to expose restricted or sealed information, we will review the issue carefully.
If content creates a credible safety risk, explain the concern clearly and provide the page URL.
Official orders, court notices or source links can help us evaluate sensitive requests.
How to submit a request
Send the URL and the specific section, screenshot, table or wording that concerns you.
Tell us whether it involves privacy, outdated data, mistaken identity, sealed record, safety, legal restriction or screenshot exposure.
If available, include a court order, official docket update, sealing/expungement notice, agency correction or official source link.
Do not send full SSNs, full DOBs, unredacted ID documents, complete filings or private family/medical/financial records unless absolutely necessary and safely redacted.
We review and decide whether to update, remove, anonymise, clarify, de-index, replace a screenshot or decline the request.
Possible outcomes
| Request type | Possible action | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Private-data exposure | Remove or redact unnecessary details. | We cannot remove official records from court systems. |
| Screenshot issue | Replace screenshot, crop sensitive area or add current-page note. | Official portal layout may still change later. |
| Incorrect source routing | Update link, court name, address, number or instruction. | Official office controls final route. |
| Sealed/expunged concern | Review wording and remove unnecessary references if appropriate. | Court must handle official record status. |
| General removal request | Review case by case. | Accurate general official-source guidance may remain online. |
Site-wide trust note
publiccourtrecords.org/ is built for educational and informational use. Our guides are written to help users understand court-record systems, official portals, clerk routes, case-number searches, courthouse contact paths, screenshots and public-record limits. We are not a court, clerk, attorney, government agency, consumer reporting agency, background-check company or official record issuer.
When a guide contains links, phone numbers, addresses, maps, screenshots or resource notes, our content process is to manually review those details before publication or update. Court systems still control final access, fees, restrictions, filings, sealed records, certified copies and official case status.
