The current Justice Information Portal uses Odyssey Smart Search. Public registration is not required, but JavaScript and browser cookies must be enabled.
- Open the official Justice Information Portal. Avoid old bookmarks pointing to the former search.bexar.org or fugitive-search applications. Bexar County consolidated those services into the new portal.
- Select “Smart Search.” Do not start with Jail Search when the goal is a court case. Jail Search and court records answer different questions.

- Complete the CAPTCHA and submit. Broad names may return the maximum number of results, so be ready to narrow the search.
- Click the case number. The Case Summary opens separately. Scroll through the parties, hearings, events, charges and available case information.
Use these three searches instead of one over-filtered search
Example: Rodriguez, Daniel. This gives the portal the fewest opportunities to exclude a valid case.
Try the full middle name, middle initial and no middle name. Court filings may not use the same format every time.
Narrow by area of law, case type, filing year or status only after the name itself returns results.
How to Narrow a Large Bexar County Result List
The portal displays a maximum of 200 search results. A common surname can reach that limit before the correct case becomes easy to identify.
Use a middle initial first. A full middle name can exclude a case when the filing contains only an initial.
Choose criminal, civil, probate or another available location category instead of reviewing unrelated cases.

How to Find Older or Archived Bexar County Cases
Not every historical document is indexed in the same modern portal. The District Clerk provides a separate Historical Cases search, while the Records and Archives sections maintain older civil and criminal district-court material.
