Official Flagler County Court Records Search

The Flagler County Clerk maintains records for county and circuit court matters. Its court-record website identifies public online viewing for county and circuit civil cases, county and circuit criminal cases, and probate proceedings. Some additional documents require authorized registered access, and confidential material remains restricted.

Court cases

Benchmark Case Search

Use Benchmark for court case lookups, including available party information, case activity, docket entries and public documents. Search functionality and document visibility can vary by case and access level.

Open Benchmark ↗

If the direct portal is unavailable, use the Clerk’s Court Records page.

Recorded documents

Landmark Official Records

Use Landmark for deeds, mortgages, liens, recorded judgments, property-related instruments and other documents maintained in Flagler County’s Official Records. It is not the primary tool for reviewing a criminal or civil case docket.

Open Landmark ↗
Important distinction: A judgment might appear in a court case file, in recorded Official Records, or in both when separately recorded. Finding a recorded instrument does not automatically provide the full lawsuit file, and finding a case docket does not mean every filing is viewable online.

Other official access routes

The Clerk also provides public courthouse computers for reviewing filed civil case information. Its Records Management Division handles closed files and older archival materials. A courthouse visit or specific clerk request may be necessary when online access is incomplete.

Which Flagler County Court Handles the Record?

Choosing the correct case category is particularly important when several people share the same name or when a dispute might have been filed in more than one court. Flagler County has circuit and county court divisions with different responsibilities.

Case or recordWhere to beginWhat to look for
Felony criminalCircuit criminal / BenchmarkCharges, filings, hearings and dispositions that are publicly available
Misdemeanor or criminal trafficCounty criminal / BenchmarkCase number, charge descriptions, docket activity and outcome
Circuit civilCircuit Civil DivisionLarger civil claims, foreclosure-related litigation, orders and judgments
County civil, small claims, evictionsCounty Civil DivisionComplaint, case status, hearing events, orders and judgments

ProbateProbate DivisionEstates, probate petitions and accessible case documents
TrafficTraffic DivisionCitation details, case activity and applicable payments or hearings

Division descriptions provide search routing, not an exhaustive statement of jurisdiction. Some cases move, transfer or are reclassified, and online visibility may differ from the physical case file.

How to Search Flagler County Court Records in 7 Steps

Use this workflow for most publicly searchable cases. A name search is convenient, but a case number and confirmation from the Clerk are more reliable when identifying the correct proceeding.

  1. Identify the type of record. Decide whether you need a court case, a recorded property instrument, a certified court copy or an archived file. Court cases belong in Benchmark; recorded instruments belong in Landmark.
  2. Open the official court-record route. Visit the Clerk’s Court Records page and follow the Benchmark search option. Check for any access notices before continuing.
  3. Prepare a name or case number. Use the known party name and spelling variations, or the exact case number from a notice or document. Keep filing years and the case type handy.
  4. Apply available search criteria. Search the party name or case identifier, then narrow results using the court, date or case type when the interface provides those filters.
  5. Verify the correct case. Compare the case number, court division, party names, filing information and case events. Do not rely on a same-name match alone.
  6. Review the docket and accessible filings. Determine whether you need case status, a particular order, a judgment or a document image. Not every public docket entry includes a downloadable file.
  7. Request unavailable or certified records. Contact the appropriate Clerk division with the case number, document title and preferred copy type. Ask about access restrictions, current fees and delivery options.

Searching by Name, Case Number or Citation

Search by a person’s name

Start with the full name used in the court proceeding. If the portal returns no useful result, try known spelling variations or a shorter name where supported. Court records may identify parties using former names, middle initials or business names.

Review the case type and filing details before assuming a result identifies your intended person. Court listings may not contain enough identifying information to distinguish unrelated individuals sharing a common name.

Search by case number

A case number is generally more precise. Enter it in the format accepted by the official system, preserving letters, digits and punctuation where required. If the number appears on a court notice, use the notice to identify the correct court as well.

If a full case number produces no result, the issue may be a mistyped character, the wrong search system, an older file or access restrictions. Do not assume that the case has been dismissed or deleted.

Traffic citations and criminal cases

For a traffic matter, determine whether it is a civil citation or a criminal traffic charge before contacting the division. The Clerk lists separate Traffic and Misdemeanor/Criminal Traffic contact numbers. A ticket payment screen is not necessarily a complete court-record history.

Verification tip: A docket reports recorded case activity, but it may not display the complete court file or all recent actions immediately. When the information affects a deadline, hearing or official submission, confirm it directly with the responsible Clerk or court.

Flagler County Court Records Copies, Searches and Fees

Viewing available records online is different from ordering copies, asking staff to conduct a search or obtaining certification. The Flagler Clerk publishes a fee schedule and separate records-management instructions.

ServicePublished feeMeaning
Clerk records search$2 per year, per nameStaff-assisted search under the published records fee schedule
Ordinary copy$1 per pageStandard-size public-record copies
Certification$2 per documentAdded certification charge; page-copy charges may also apply
Oversize copy$5 per pageApplicable to specified larger-format copies
Exemplified certificate$7A separate authentication-related service listed in the Clerk’s schedule

These are published Clerk charges, not a quote for a particular request. Confirm current fees, applicability, payment method and any mailing or other charges before ordering. Filing a lawsuit has separate filing fees that are not the cost of searching an existing court record.

Verify Clerk Fee Schedule ↗

How to request a certified court document

Find the case number first, then identify the exact filing or judgment you need. Contact the correct court division and ask for a certified copy rather than simply requesting a printout. Give the document title and filing date when known, and confirm how you can pay and receive it.

A webpage printout, ordinary downloaded image or unofficial search result should not be represented as a certified record. If the receiving agency requests exemplification or another form of authentication, ask the Clerk specifically about that requirement.

What If a Flagler County Court Record Is Missing?

Not finding a case online is not proof that no case exists. First make sure you are searching the correct system and jurisdiction. Then use the following troubleshooting routes.

Older files and historical records

The Clerk’s Records Management Division says Flagler County’s early governmental records date back to 1917. Its collections include historical court materials, probate records, journals, marriage licenses and other archival records. This does not mean every historical item is indexed or available digitally.

For an older case, prepare the approximate year, names, case type and any known case number. Ask whether the file is available for inspection, requires retrieval, or can be copied.

Archived Records Information ↗

Restricted Records, Privacy and Document Access

Florida recognizes public access to judicial records, subject to legal confidentiality and other access restrictions. Florida Rule of General Practice and Judicial Administration 2.420 addresses the protection of confidential court information and public access to judicial branch records.

Sealed files, certain juvenile matters, protected personal information and other confidential documents may be unavailable to general public users. A publicly listed case may still contain restricted documents. Registration for enhanced access does not override laws or court orders protecting confidential records.

Registered access to additional court documents

Flagler County’s official Court Records page describes a Registered User Agreement for certain additional document access. Its published instructions require a notarized agreement. Because the agreement process and user-role requirements may change, obtain the current form directly from the Clerk rather than relying on an old downloadable copy.

If you are not authorized to see a restricted record, the Clerk can explain available public information and applicable procedures but cannot simply release protected material on request.

Requesting removal of sensitive account information

The Flagler Clerk describes a written process for requesting redaction of Social Security numbers or complete financial account numbers from images or copies of court documents. The request must identify the case number, document title and page containing the information. The Clerk states that no fee is charged for the covered redaction request.

Review the official instructions before submitting any such request. Do not place sensitive identifiers in ordinary web forms, article comments or third-party search tools.

Responsible use: A criminal charge is not a conviction; a civil complaint is not a judgment; and a name match does not establish identity. Court-record information from this independent educational guide must not be used as a consumer report or for employment, housing, credit or other eligibility screening.

What if the Record Is Outside Flagler County?

Flagler County’s court search is not a statewide or federal case database. If a matter belongs to a different Florida county, use that county’s Clerk or the appropriate statewide access route. Federal cases normally require the relevant U.S. District or Bankruptcy Court and may be accessible through PACER.

A state criminal-history request is also different from searching a county court docket. For example, an arrest report may be held by law enforcement, while prosecution records are filed through the criminal court. The agency holding a record depends on the document requested.

Flagler County Court Records FAQs

Can I search Flagler County court records online for free?

The Clerk provides online access to publicly available case information and certain documents. Access varies by record and user role. Copies, certification, staff-assisted searches and certain services carry separate published fees.

Can I find a case by a person’s name?

Use the official court case search and enter the party’s name where supported. Verify the court, case number and filing details because different people can share identical names.

Where do I look up Flagler County criminal cases?

Use the Clerk’s Benchmark court-record system and the appropriate circuit or county criminal case category. For specific questions, contact the Felony or Misdemeanor/Criminal Traffic division.

Are divorce and family court files public?

Some case information may be public, but family matters can contain confidential documents. The availability of a docket does not establish unrestricted access to the complete case file.

Does Landmark show the same records as Benchmark?

No. Landmark is the Clerk’s Official Records recording system for instruments such as deeds and mortgages. Benchmark is its court case-management and record-search system.

How do I get a certified judgment?

Identify the judgment by case number and document title, then contact the Clerk’s appropriate division and ask for a certified copy. Confirm copy charges, certification fees and delivery arrangements.

Why can’t I see every court filing online?

Electronic access depends on the case type, user role, record availability and Florida confidentiality rules. Contact the Clerk to determine whether an inaccessible document can be viewed or requested through an authorized process.

Where are older Flagler County case files stored?

The Clerk’s Records Management Division handles older and closed files and identifies historical government records dating back to 1917. Ask the division about the particular year and case type.

Can I obtain records from another Florida county through Flagler County?

Generally, you should contact the Clerk or court responsible for the county where the matter was filed. Flagler County’s search is not a universal statewide docket service.
