Find a Boone County Court Case, Then Get the Record You Actually Need
Boone County directs current public case searches to Judici. The Circuit Clerk says cases from August 1993 forward can be searched there, while older files may require courthouse indexes, files or microfilm. This guide shows how to search by name or case number, verify a result, request copies, recover an older case and route appellate or federal records correctly.
Last Name, First Name. Save the complete case number when you find a plausible match. If the case predates August 1993, contact or visit the Boone County Circuit Clerk instead of treating a blank Judici result as proof that no record exists.
Boone County court records are maintained through the Circuit Clerk, not the Boone County Clerk & Recorder. The Circuit Clerk states that its office maintains records of traffic, civil and criminal cases filed and heard in Boone County. Probate, family, small claims, eviction, foreclosure and other Circuit Court matters also route through the court system.
The searchable website is Judici, a private platform used by participating Illinois Circuit Clerks. The 17th Judicial Circuit and Boone County Circuit Clerk both direct the public to that service for current Boone County case information. Judici itself states that it is operated by Judici.com, not by a court.
Start With the Current Boone County Case Database
The Boone County Circuit Clerk currently gives three routes for finding a court record: search the current electronic database, inspect older records at the courthouse, or submit a written request for clerk staff to search.
How to Search Boone County Court Records by Name
The Boone County Circuit Clerk’s current court-date instructions specifically tell users that Judici can be searched by case number or name. For a name search, the Clerk gives the format Last name, First Name.
Last Name, First Name. Avoid adding uncertain middle names or initials on the first attempt.

What Boone County Circuit Court Records Can Include
Illinois trial courts are Circuit Courts. Boone and Winnebago Counties form the 17th Judicial Circuit, and the Boone County Circuit Clerk maintains the local court record. The office publishes separate civil, criminal and traffic departments and department extensions for specific case types.
Felony & misdemeanor
Use the Boone case search for public criminal case information. The Clerk separately lists felony and criminal-misdemeanor staff contacts when additional help is needed.
Lawsuits & money claims
Civil records can include law, arbitration, small claims, foreclosure, eviction, chancery and other civil case categories filed in Boone County.
Divorce & family
Dissolution and family matters are Circuit Court cases, but remote access may be narrower when a filing contains confidential or protected information.
Estates & guardianships
The Circuit Clerk’s civil department handles probate-related court files. Historical probate material can also exist in the Illinois Regional Archives Depository system.
Traffic & ordinance cases
Judici is also used for Boone County traffic matters and eligible online payment functions. A court-required appearance should not be replaced by an online payment unless the citation and court instructions permit it.
Upcoming appearances
The Clerk says you can check your date through Judici or call 815-544-0371 with the case number available. Court scheduling can change, so rely on the newest official notice.
For unfamiliar terminology such as docket, disposition, judgment, sealed, dismissed or certified copy, use the site’s Court Records Glossary. To distinguish a docket, filing, judgment and transcript, see Court Record Types Explained.

Ask the Boone County Circuit Clerk to Search for You
If you cannot perform the search yourself, the Clerk says staff can conduct a written records search. This is different from an ordinary free name search on Judici.

|---|---|

| Names | Provide the names to be searched. |
| Search fee | $6 per name per year. |

| Return mail | Include a self-addressed stamped envelope. |
| Published turnaround | Allow 4–6 weeks for results to be mailed. |
Boone County Court Record Copy and Certification Fees
The current Court Records page links to the Circuit Clerk’s miscellaneous fee schedule, which is labeled effective August 1, 2019. The page remains the Clerk’s current linked fee source, but verify the amount before mailing payment because fee schedules can be amended.
| Record service | Published amount |
|---|---|
| First copy page | $2.00 |
| Pages 2–20 | $0.50 each |
| Pages over 20 | $0.25 each |
| Certification | $6.00 each |
| Exemplified copy | $6.00 |
| Record search | $6.00 for each year searched |
| Certified judgment after initial entry | $10.00, subject to the Clerk’s listed exceptions |
Need a Transcript Instead of a Docket or Copy?
A transcript records what was said during a court proceeding. It is different from the docket, the Clerk’s copy of a pleading or an order.
The 17th Judicial Circuit provides a separate Boone County transcript-request process through Court Reporting Services. The published standard-delivery rate for an original transcript is currently $4 per page when standard delivery is available, with a typical stated timeframe of 3–4 weeks. A private copy is listed at $2.50 per page.

The courthouse contains Boone County Courtrooms 1–4, the Circuit Clerk, Jury Assembly, Self Help Center, Probation and State’s Attorney offices.
The Clerk also currently states that parties are required to appear by Zoom unless the Court instructs otherwise during the construction period. Do not use a general website instruction to override a case-specific order or notice from your judge.
Check a Boone County Court Date
If you already have the case number, the Boone County Circuit Clerk says you can call 815-544-0371 or check Judici. The office also offers text and email reminders for upcoming court dates.
Court Record Search and Court Payment Are Separate Tasks
Finding a case on Judici does not necessarily mean the case is eligible for online payment. The Circuit Clerk uses Judici for certain online payments and says a citation number or case number is required.
The Clerk currently asks users making online or phone payments to do so at least two business days before the court date. Vendor service fees can apply. For a required appearance, pending case or plea decision, follow the exact citation and court instructions rather than assuming payment will resolve the matter.
Searching a Case Is Not the Same as Filing a Document
Judici is used here to locate public case information. If you need to file a document, Boone County uses Illinois e-filing procedures instead.
The Circuit Clerk states that electronic filing has been mandatory for civil cases since January 1, 2018. Subsequent electronic filings in criminal and traffic cases have been available since January 6, 2020. Filing requirements, exemptions and fees depend on the case and filing type.

Federal Cases From Boone County Use PACER, Not Judici
Boone County is within the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Federal judiciary information places Boone County in the Northern District, and Northern District courthouse guidance places Boone within the Western Division served from Rockford.
Use PACER when the document identifies a United States District Court, federal bankruptcy court or federal appellate court. The PACER Case Locator can also search nationwide when you do not know which federal court has the case.
Open PACER or use the site’s PACER Court Records Guide for docket and fee explanations.
Use Boone County Court Information Carefully
Public court indexes are useful for locating a file, but they can be misunderstood when a name, charge or docket entry is taken out of context.
- Confirm the correct person before relying on a same-name result.
- Read the final disposition rather than stopping at an accusation or filing.
- Do not treat a charge as a conviction.
- Do not treat a lawsuit as proof that a claim was true.
- Do not assume every public courthouse document is available remotely.
- Do not attempt to bypass sealed, impounded, juvenile, adoption or other access restrictions.
- Use the Circuit Clerk when an official or certified record is required.
